Nancy & Glenn Roof Project in Portland

Nancy & Glen Roof Project

Nancy and Glen are in their mid-70s and have called their home in SW Portland their own for the past 27 years. Both are retired and living with disabilities, relying on a fixed income. With the rising cost of living—especially increasing energy costs—maintaining their home has become nearly impossible.

An assessment by Community Energy Project (CEP) revealed significant energy efficiency challenges in their 1979 home. Through CEP’s support, critical improvements were made, including new insulation and air sealing, upgraded ventilation, and the replacement of outdated heating and water systems with modern, energy-efficient solutions. These upgrades have already brought increased comfort and reduced utility costs.

However, one major issue remains unresolved—their nearly 30-year-old roof is failing.

Without replacement, the home—and the improvements already made—are at risk. That’s where the community can step in.

Catalyst Partnerships NW is organizing volunteers to replace the roof, helping ensure Nancy and Glen can remain in their home safely, comfortably, and independently for years to come.

Scope of Work:

  • Day 1: Remove the existing roof and begin replacing damaged plywood
  • Day 2: Complete roof removal and plywood replacement; begin installing the new roof
  • Day 3: Finish roof installation and complete site cleanup
